What We Fund

The Sacred People Foundation, Inc. is a private foundation and provides its support through financial grants. The Foundation makes grants only to nonprofit organizations that support Native Americans and have been determined by the IRS to be charitable or educational in nature. They must have been approved under Section 501c3 of the IRS Code to be tax exempt.

The Sacred people Foundation does not make grants to private individuals, nor does it buy tables or advertising for fundraising events.

The Sacred People Foundation will not fund: Non-profit organizations with an asset base of greater than $10 million dollars. Endowment Campaigns. Programs that require adherence to a particular religious belief or practice to receive services. (Faith based organizations serving- the community-at-large will be considered). Operating deficits or liquidation of existing debt. Grants may not be used for political purposes.

Please do not include the following items in the grant requests: executive salaries, milage reimbursement, snacks or t-shirts, conferences, festivals, exhibitions, events and fundraisers.

Grant Application Process

  1. The Sacred People Foundation has two grant application processes; a “short-form” process for grants under $5,000 and the normal process for grants greater than $5,000.
